Joint-Labor Management - What's on the Horizon

Novatime Assignment Software - What is this?
This is a software that will be used by all assignment staff in the near future.  They are presently being trained on this software.  Assignment staff for court reporters, judicial assistants and Interpreters are presently using three different types of software that is outdated. When one assignment staff person is out ill, one of the other assignment staff has to do double duty and may not be familiar with the other type of assignment software which causes a delay in the assignment process of staff to uncovered courtrooms.

Having one type of software that all assignment staff is trained on and familiar with will make assignment of court reporters more efficient, and reporters will know their assignment earlier.

NEOGOV - What is it?  How will this affect reporters?
NEOGOV is a software presently used by the Court's Human Resources department.  In the future this software will allow court reporters to apply for preferred assignments through an online portal.  Once the court reporter enters their assignment preferences, the court reporter will be notified via email when the assignment becomes available.  Human Resources is in the process of developing online criteria specifically for court reporter assignments.   The implementation date is unknown at this time.

BAF to RAF Concept:
What is this concept?  Why Building to Region?  Who will be most affected?

The Building Assigned Floater to Regionally Assigned Floater Concept's purpose is to cover all courtrooms countywide more efficiently.  This project would only affect Building Assigned Reporters and Floaters.  For the purposes of this concept, county courthouses will no longer be divided into districts, they will be divided into seven (7) regions.

It is believed this concept would maximize courtroom coverage and would minimize driving time and foster a sense of community for all floaters because Regionally Assigned Reporters would be covering the same group of courthouses within their assigned region.

Your LACCRA-SEIU Join Labor-Management team is currently having meetings with Management to address the details of this concept.  As information becomes available, the membership will be informed.

When will Electronic Time Sheets go live?
Management is in the process of training ALL reporters.  This will take some time.  As soon as this task is completed, Management will send a notice to reporters apprising them of the go-live date.

The next General Membership Meeting will be sometime in September.  Hope to see you all there.

Dedicated to its members and the profession!
