Political Action Reporters Los Angeles CountyPARLAC is the acronym for Political Action Reporters Los Angeles County. PARLAC is a Political Action Committee registered with the California Secretary of State. Political action committees collect contributions into one fund that may be used to support or oppose state or local candidates, causes, legislation, or initiatives. PARLAC is funded by court reporters employed by the Los Angeles Superior Court who choose to participate. Court reporters who choose to be members of PARLAC contribute dues in the amount of $7.50 per month. PARLAC vs. LACCRA
What is the Difference?LACCRA is a professional association that represents and promotes court reporters employed by the Los Angeles County Superior Court. PARLAC is a separate and distinct Political Action Committee sponsored by LACCRA. Because PARLAC may contribute funds to political candidates, causes, legislation, or initiatives, the two entities must operate separately. Federal and state laws require Political Action Committee funds to be maintained separately from any affiliated association. PAC funds cannot be commingled with LACCRA funds. Governance
